Our Butler ribbons made the news!
by Admin on February 19, 2011
Fox 4 tried to get ahold of Mrs. Coulter for this segment they ran tonight. It mainly features Kooken, but has a closeup shot of one of our ribbons out front of Butler. Thanks again to all of the dads that showed up Wednesday night to wrap the trees in blue ribbons.

by Admin on February 17, 2011
The PTA has asked for the Dads Club’s help with this year’s talent show. We need 4 or 5 dads that are good at herding cats. We will be responsible for lining up the acts and making sure they are ready to go on stage. If you can help please let us know by leaving your contact info in the comments below.
The talent show will be held up at Butler on Friday, February 25th at 6:30pm. It usually runs late, but you don’t worry if you can’t work the whole time. We need the most help at the beginning of the show.
Meeting to discuss proposed budget cuts and how they will affect Butler
by Admin on February 16, 2011
February 22, 6:30pm Butler Cafeteria—Open to all concerned parents.
The Butler PTA, Butler Dads Club and North Arlington Education Alliance are holding a meeting to discuss the proposed budget cuts, what they mean for Butler and what you can do about it. The meeting is open to all concerned Butler parents and will be held in the Butler Cafeteria on Tuesday, February 22nd at 6:30 pm.
The goal of the meeting is to educate our parents on the crisis, what it means for Butler, and point concerned parents in the right direction to let their voices be heard in Austin.
We will have representatives from AISD, School Board member Jamie Sullins, and our Principal Sara Coulter on hand to present information and answer questions.
The tentative agenda will be:
- Introduce AISD SOS (Save our Schools) blue ribbon campaign.
- Inform parents on current AISD budget plans (Jamie Sullins to present)
- Educate parents on the budget situation in Austin
- Let parents know about the North Arlington Education Alliance Town Hall meeting at Lamar on March 9th (pending date)
- Mention the Save Texas Schools Rally in Austin March 12th
- List specifics of how these cuts affect Butler and our children
- Discuss how parent volunteers can help fill the gap at Butler next year. (PTA and Dads Club to Present)
Calling on Dads for Operation Blue Ribbon Tomorrow night at 7:30 pm and Thursday morning at 7:30am.
by Admin on February 16, 2011
As some of you guys may know, AISD and Butler are being hit hard by the recent budget crisis. The school and concerned parents are planning a meeting to discuss the issue next Tuesday, Feb. 22nd at 6:30. However, to raise awareness, the BDC would like to launch OPERATION BLUE RIBBON.
Phase I:
Our plan is to meet tomorrow night and wrap all the trees in front of Butler with blue ribbon for Phase I. (Thanks Jonathan for donating the Ribbon!). To do this, we need any dads that are interested to show up tomorrow night at 7:30pm in front of the school. It should take less than an hour of your time.
Phase II:
Phase II of Operation Blue Ribbon will be held Thursday morning. We will be asking parents in the drop off lines if we can tie ribbon on their car antennas to show support. We need at least 6 dads to help with this from 7:30am to 8:15am Thursday morning. If you can help then, please call Don Sickles or Alan Nagid to let them know.
Meeting moved to Tuesday, Feb. 8th at 7:00pm
by Admin on February 1, 2011
Since AISD shut down due to weather today, we will move our meeting from tonight to next Tuesday, February 8th at 7pm in the cafeteria. Hope to see everyone there.
Hopefully my driveway—which is currently being used as a luge ramp—will be clear of ice by then.
Our apologies to North Arlington Little League. If you are interested in signing your son or daughter up for baseball, you can do so at NALLBALL.COM. It is quick, painless and they even have an easy payment plan. Do it today because registration is being extended just a few more days.
Will we have our meeting tomorrow?

As you know, we have our regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow night at 7:00pm. We also have some nasty weather due to roll in around 6:00am.
As of this moment our meeting is still on.
However, this could change. If AISD shuts down, then we will reschedule our meeting for the following Tuesday at 7:00pm.
If AISD does not shut down tomorrow, but conditions get worse tomorrow afternoon or evening, we will also cancel the meeting and move it to the following week.
As always, it is best to check our web site, Facebook page or subscribe to our updates on Twitter to stay up on the latest information. We’ll keep you informed on all three once we know exactly how bad things are going to get.

North Arlington Little League will be up at Butler before and after our meeting to sign you up and answer any questions you have about their league.
Spring registration ends very soon so this is a perfect opportunity to get signed up if you have been putting it off.

However, they will at our meeting to answer questions and register you on the spot. So if you have been thinking about signing your son or daughter up for baseball, now is your chance.

Dec Meeting Change: Thursday, Dec 9th at J. Gilligan’s, 7pm
by Admin on December 2, 2010

Due to a conflict with performances at school, we have decided to move our regular Dec Meeting from Tue. to Thursday, December 9th next week. We have also decided to move it offsite to J Gilligan’s to celebrate the end of a very successful fall at Butler. We plan on recapping the Daddy Daughter Dance and a few other agenda items but will plan on keeping the business part brief.
We hope to see all the dads there. It should be a well-deserved great time.
Remember the meeting will be on Thursday NOT Tuesday so dads can still make the Choir Performance at school on Tuesday.
When: Thursday, Dec. 9th. 7pm-9pm
Where: J. Gilligan’s, 407 East South Street Arlington, TX 76010
