Math Program Available to 3rd-6th Grade Students
by dscholty on December 14, 2011
December 5, 2011
Butler Parents,
I am excited to announce that all 3rd-6th grade Butler students will have access to Apangea Math. Apangea Math is an online researched based program which is designed to increase math performance. Your child will be able to access and participate in this program anywhere there is a computer with internet access. Since this is a supplemental math program, it will not replace the math instruction that your child is currently receiving during the school day.
Apangea Learning has built-in instructional support throughout the program. Your child will be able to look at lessons, get automated help, and receive tutoring from live, certified math teachers. The most important factor for your child’s success with Apangea Math is reading the help messages when they are having difficulty.
While learning, your child will get instructional support from an automated learning coach. During the following hours, they will be able to get additional support from live, certified math teachers.
Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 midnight (Eastern) 4:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Pacific)
Friday 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (Eastern) 4:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Pacific)
Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Eastern) 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon (Pacific)
Sunday 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (Eastern) 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Pacific)
I want to encourage all 3rd-6th grade students to participate in this program. Each student who participates can earn points which can be redeemed for rewards through Apangea Math.
To get started go to www.apangea.com and have your child use their student id (lunch number) for both the Username and Password.
Username: (your student ID)
Password: (your student ID)
* There are a few students who will need to add the first letter (lower case) of their first name to the Username and Password (ex: a123456).
Sincerely,
Daniel Gallagher, Principal

Proposed BDC Officers for 2011-2012
by Admin on May 31, 2011
Our proposed officer slate for the next school year is finally set. The current slate is made up of a great group of Butler dads from a a wide variety of grade levels. Most are new to the BDC Executive Committee. However, each bring a wealth of experience from managing similar organizations.
- President:
- Rob Asplet
- Vice President:
- Jeff Kennemer
- Secretary:
- Jim Gammon
- Treasurer:
- Bry Acker
At tonight’s meeting, the members at large will have an opportunity to vote to approve the slate and send to the Board of Directors for final approval.
Special Meeting: Tue. May 31st, 7:00pm in the Butler Cafeteria
by Admin on May 24, 2011
We are having a special meeting called for next Tuesday, May 31st at 7:00pm in the Butler Cafeteria to approve our slate of new officers for next year and to ask for nominations to chair our new work committees.
Election of BDC Officers:
As directed by our bylaws, we need to have the members at large approve our slate of new officers for the next school year. We are putting finishing touches on the slate and will have it finalized in time for Tuesday’s meeting.
Committee Chair Nominations:
In addition, we will be taking nominations for Committee Chairs. As part of our changes for next year, we are going to be appointing committee chairs for all of our major events similar to the PTA. Please email or let us know at next weeks meeting if you think you would like to volunteer on or chair one of these committees.
Volunteering for a committee chair is a great way to volunteer and share your leadership skills without having to commit to a full year of activity. No experience necessary though. Each committee will have an experienced past or present BDC officer as a member to help advise the Chairman.
The preliminary list of committees are:
- Father/Son Golf
- Daddy/Daughter Dance
- BBQ
- Weekend Warrior Work Days
- Garden
- Traffic Duty
We need your votes for our officers and need you to volunteer as a committee chair— so please show up!
We will see you next week.
